Julia and Erich cycled for Velafrica last year and raised over 5,000 Swiss francs in donations. Watch the video (in German) to see how they got on:
Our Ride For Impact cyclists show how it’s done
Philippe Givel, for example, raised an impressive 3,500 Swiss francs with his blog Fifipatagonia during a two-week tour of France. Philippe Reuland spent a year cycling the mountain passes of Switzerland to support the «Bike to School» programme. In the summer of 2023, Mauro D’Ambros cycled around Switzerland and collected donations. And Julie Pruvost rode a Tour de France on an electric bike as a Velafrica ambassador. Their tours are moving – literally and figuratively.

Go East – from California to Florida
For his Ride for Impact, Felix will be cycling across the USA from 26 September to 23 November 2025. He will follow the Southern Tier Route from the west coast to the east coast. This route starts on the Pacific coast and ends on the Atlantic coast. He is raising 5,000 Swiss francs for Velafrica – one franc for every kilometre he covers.
You too can support Felix in his endeavour.

Off we go – from Bern to Cape Town
In September, Elias will set off on his adventure: from Bern to Cape Town by bike. His partner Sofia will accompany him from Kampala (Uganda) for three months, also on two wheels. They want to raise CHF 12,000 for Velafrica – one franc per kilometre cycled.
You too can support Elias and Sofia.

From Vienna to Nice for Africa
Thomas took part in the Three Peaks Bike Race from 5 to 15 July 2025 together with his brother-in-law Stef. The two cycled over 2,160 km from Vienna to Nice, covering 26,600 metres of elevation gain and crossing three peaks: Monte Zoncolan, Feldberg and Colle delle Finestre. They achieved their goal of completing the race within 11 days and raised over CHF 2,600 for Velafrica. Thank you, Thomas and Stefan!

Thomas is riding the Transibérica race: 2,600 km and around 35,000 metres of elevation gain, from Bolzano to Bilbao, with ten checkpoints at mountain passes in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain. He will be on the road from 24 August 2024. His goal? To raise 10,000 Swiss francs for people in Africa and, of course, to reach the finish line in Bilbao.

Julia and Erich rode their gravel bikes from Copenhagen via Oslo and Stockholm to Helsinki from 19 July to 18 August 2024. They covered a distance of around 2000 km with an elevation gain of around 12,000 metres. In doing so, they raised over 7,500 Swiss francs for Velafrica. Thank you very much, Julia and Erich!

Once around Switzerland: At the end of May, Mauro D’Ambros set off on a month-long cycle tour around Switzerland (including short detours into neighbouring countries). This beautiful route covered around 1,600 kilometres and over 20,000 metres of elevation gain. In the end, almost 17,000 Swiss francs were donated to Velafrica – thank you very much, Mauro, for your commitment!

Nico Lüthi set himself the goal of cycling across Europe in four months. He started in Portugal at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, and cycled 6,000 kilometres overland to the North Cape in Norway. Along the way, our campaign volunteer collected donations for Velafrica. Thank you very much, Nico!

124 passes for Africa – the challenge has been mastered!
Passionate cyclist Philippe Reuland crossed all 124 mountain passes in Switzerland within a year, collecting donations for our «Bike to School» programme. Thank you very much, Philippe, for your fantastic support!
After Joseph and Daniel Smeaton saw many children their own age walking long distances during a holiday in Africa, they spontaneously organised a fundraising campaign. They cycled a tenth of the distance between Zurich and Johannesburg and collected money for our «Bike to School» programme. In the video, the two explain what motivated them to pedal for Velafrica.
