Five bicycle hubs
Every year, Velafrica exports over 20’000 bicycles to seven countries. Approximately 80% of the bikes go to bicycle hubs in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and South Africa. Alongside the bikes, we also export thousands of spare parts. Demand is highest for inner tubes, wheels and chains. The hubs in Burkina Faso and Tanzania were established with long-term local partners.
Bicycle shops in West Africa
Four small businesses in Ghana, Gambia and Ivory Coast receive the remaining 20% of the bicyles. These bike shops and their workshops are long-term partners of Velafrica. In these locations as well, jobs are created in the shops, workshops and administration.
Become a partner
The demand for bicycles from our existing partners is much greater than the quantity we can supply. Therefore, Velafrica is currently not sending bikes to new partners or projects. Thank you for your understanding.
