Five bicycle hubs
Every year, Velafrica exports over 25’000 bicycles to seven countries. Approximately two thirds of the bikes go to bicycle hubs in Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and Malawi. Alongside the bikes, we also export thousands of spare parts. Demand is highest for inner tubes, wheels and chains. The hubs in Burkina Faso and Tanzania were established with long-term local partners.
Bicycle shops in West Africa
Four small businesses in Ghana, Gambia and Ivory Coast receive the remaining one third of the bicycles. These bike shops and their workshops are long-term partners of Velafrica. In these locations as well, jobs are created in the shops, workshops and administration.
