Return order to your bike cellar
Do abandoned bicycles block the bike cellar or the bike parking spaces in your property? Velafrica will be happy to assist you with the removal of abandoned bikes.
However, we accept all types of bikes and are able to reuse every good bike. Bikes in poor condition are dismantled and individual components are used for spare parts. We also accept e-bikes. If the e-bikes are complete (battery, charger and key) we check the option of exporting them to our partners. Incomplete or defect e-bikes are processed into valuable spare parts. We do not collect scooters, kickboards, bike trailers, tricycles and accessories such as bicycle seats.
Costs
Velafrica charges a flat rate of 150 CHF for collecting bicycles. This includes removal and transport of up to 50 bicycles. We use this fee to cover a small part of the costs that arise from the preparation of the bikes within Switzerland and their transportation to Africa. We would be happy if you could support us with an additional donation or, if you are company, become a corporate supporter.
A successful bike clearance only takes a few steps
- Contact us as soon as possible so that we can organize the bike collection and transportation. To do this, please complete our bicycle clearance contact form.
- Send a letter to the residents of your property to inform them about the bicycle clearance plan including the procedure and deadlines. We can provide you with a template letter.
- Ask the tenants to clearly mark their own bicycles so that you only label abandoned bicycles for removal. We will send you the labels in advance.
- We will meet you at the property at the agreed time and collect the bikes.
Legal situation
“Involuntary bicycle donations” – bicycles that have been picked up that were not intended for donation – are annoying and cause additional work for everyone. To ensure that only the correct bikes are donated to Velafrica, careful planning and implementation of the bike clearance plan is important. Velafrica accepts no liability for incorrectly collected bikes.
Any questions?
