For more than ten years, Elias Furrer has dreamed of cycling from his home in Bern to Cape Town. Now, he has mustered up all his courage and will set off in mid-September 2024, heading out into the open world and pedalling towards new adventures. The plan is to cover around 15,000 km and 125,000 meters of elevation gain in 10 months – truly a wild ride! His partner, Sofia Anzeneder, will join him on the bike for a three-month stretch, starting in Kampala, Uganda.
Right from the start, as a social worker and a psychologist, they knew they wanted their project to have a positive social impact. With bikes, Africa, and social engagement in mind, Velafrica seemed like the perfect fit. They set an ambitious goal: to raise one Swiss franc for Velafrica for every kilometre they ride, aiming for a total of 15,000 CHF. You too can help them reach this goal!
To find out which route they’ve chosen and what they’ve already experienced, visit their blog at www.abgefahren.ch and follow Elias on Instagram at elias_abgefahren.
Sofia and Elias are being supported on their adventure by Veloplus, Stämpfli Kommunikation, and Ortlieb.
