Our work in Burkina Faso is bearing fruit. At the beginning of December, our dual vocational training programme was officially validated in a festive ceremony. Representatives of the government, the local SDC department, other non-profits and our training officer Däni Grüter were present. This brings us one step closer to our goal of training 700 young people in bicycle mechanics over the next three years.
Due to the Corona pandemic, the start of the vocational training programme at Faso Velo has been delayed in recent months. Since October, however, things have been moving forward. Däni Grüter will be on site until Christmas to teach bicycle mechanics to future instructors and vocational trainers from the region. Velafrica’s plan, developed with local authorities, is to develop Faso Velo as Ouagadougou’s bicycle centre of competence.
