Join us \u2013 become an Impact Rider!<\/strong> Are you planning a long bike tour anyway? Then give it even more meaning and start a personal fundraising campaign for Velafrica. That way, you won’t be cycling alone, but in the spirit of solidarity<\/strong> \u2013 for more opportunities and mobility in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bike tour can be undertaken alone or as a group, take place in Switzerland or abroad, and can be short or long. You are responsible for planning, organizing, carrying out and financing the bike tour yourself.<\/strong> Velafrica does not sponsor bike tours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pedal for Purpose<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nick, Sebastian, Lucas and Nils are 10th-grade students in the Canton of Zurich. As part of a school project, they\u2019ve decided to bike from Zurich to Lugano in June 2026. With their \u201cRide for Impact\u201d initiative, they\u2019re raising 10,000 Swiss francs for Velafrica<\/strong> and have created their own website for the cause.

From ZH to BCN with a Purpose<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tom, Mara and Damien’s employer operates offices in Zurich and Barcelona. As the three of them love challenges and enjoy cycling, they decided to cycle from office to office in seven days in early summer 2026. Their Ride for Impact raises CHF 5,000 for Velafrica.<\/strong>

TNM: Competing in the Cape Epic for Velafrica<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

TNM<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 that’s T<\/strong>eam\u00a0N<\/strong>ici-M<\/strong>\u00e4ni. From 15 to 22 March 2026, the two were competing in the Cape Epic in South Africa: in teams of two on mountain bikes, they covered around 700 kilometres and almost 16,000 metres of elevation gain over eight days. Nici and M\u00e4ni want to help more people to become mobile, which is why they have collected over 5,700 CHF for Velafrica with their Ride for Impact. On Route 62 for Velafrica<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

16 days, 900 kilometers and over 6\u2019000 meters of elevation \u2013 Remo and his friends cycled on Route 62 for Velafrica.<\/strong> This road leads from the industrial city George in the south of the country to Cape Town on the west coast of South Africa. The fundraising campaign ran from 3 to 30 November 2025. Thank you, Remo!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Go East \u2013 from California to Florida<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his Ride for Impact, Felix cycled across the USA from 26 September to 23 November 2025.<\/strong> He followed the Southern Tier Route from the west coast to the east coast. This route starts on the Pacific coast and ends on the Atlantic coast. Thank you, Felix!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Off we go \u2013 from Bern to Cape Town<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In September 2024, Elias set off on his adventure: from Bern to Cape Town by bike. His partner Sofia accompanied him from Kampala (Uganda) for three months, also on two wheels. They want to raise CHF 12,000 for Velafrica \u2013 one franc per kilometre cycled.<\/strong>

From Vienna to Nice for Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas took part in the Three Peaks Bike Race from 5 to 15 July 2025 together with his brother-in-law Stef. The two cycled over 2,160 km from Vienna to Nice, covering 26,600 metres of elevation gain and crossing three peaks: Monte Zoncolan, Feldberg and Colle delle Finestre. They achieved their goal of completing the race within 11 days and raised over CHF 2,600 for Velafrica. Thank you, Thomas and Stefan!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Transib\u00e9rica for Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas is riding the Transib\u00e9rica race: 2,600 km and around 35,000 metres of elevation gain, from Bolzano to Bilbao, with ten checkpoints at mountain passes in Italy, Switzerland, France and Spain. He will be on the road from 24 August 2024. His goal? To raise 10,000 Swiss francs for people in Africa and, of course, to reach the finish line in Bilbao.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cycling for Velafrica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once around Switzerland: At the end of May, Mauro D’Ambros set off on a month-long cycle tour around Switzerland (including short detours into neighbouring countries). This beautiful route covered around 1,600 kilometres and over 20,000 metres of elevation gain. In the end, almost 17,000 Swiss francs were donated to Velafrica \u2013 thank you very much, Mauro, for your commitment!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Across Europe for Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nico L\u00fcthi set himself the goal of cycling across Europe in four months. He started in Portugal at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, and cycled 6,000 kilometres overland to the North Cape in Norway. Along the way, our campaign volunteer collected over 8,000 CHF for Velafrica. Thank you very much, Nico!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

124 passes for Africa \u2013 the challenge has been mastered!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passionate cyclist Philippe Reuland crossed all 124 mountain passes in Switzerland within a year, collecting over 20,000 CHF for our \u00abBike to School\u00bb programme. Thank you very much, Philippe, for your fantastic support!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
